New Quizzes is a Canvas integration which replaces the classic quizzes functionality currently existing in Canvas. While the standard Quiz tool in canvas is perfectly adequate, New Quizzes has a wide range of additional features on offer, which we were keen to implement in order to make sure MTU staff had the best tool on offer. Quizzes.Next was the original name given to Canvas’s alternative quiz/test assessment engine introduced in 2018. As of summer 2019, Canvas has begun referring to this tool as “New Quizzes.” Although originally it was expected that Quizzes.Next would completely replace the original Quiz tool by early 2019, it is no longer clear when this might happen. Since 2018, New Quizzes (formerly called Quizzes.Next) has been available to use along with Classic Quizzes, which is the original built-in quiz tool in Canvas. New Quizzes offers a variety of assessment types and an easy-to-navigate user interface. This guide is designed as an overview for New Quizzes. If this is the first time you’re doing an exam in Canvas Quizzes (or Canvas New Quizzes), know that t he quiz tool can be set up to show only one question at a time and prevent you from returning to a previous question. New Quizzes has been in development for several years and has now been enabled to select as a course feature for Canvas@UD, but the existing Quizzes tool is still enabled and fully functional.
